Do People Really Care About the Size of a Laptop?
The question in mobile computing has become, “Does physical size really matter or is it more important to have a computing machine that allows you to fit every piece of software and save as many songs as possible on your computing device?” Another issue may be whether the smaller dimensions are more concerning or if the light-weight portability is the key matter. I think the availability of different types of portable computers these days lets us really personalize our computers into something that works for everyone and doesn’t have to be generic for all.
The announcement of the new macbookair by Apple has really given us a selection with the size and weight and what kind of laptop we carry around with us everyday. At less than 3 pounds and thinner than a picture frame, we don’t have to strain our shoulders every time we go on a trip. It has a 13 inch display and a full-size keyboard. Who wouldn’t be interested? This is the very attribute I have been seeking.
When I first saw the youtube video for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to handle laptop computer coming out of that manila envelope, I was just in awe. Now, that’s what I’ve been hunting for. Now it doesn’t have to be a major undertaking to take my laptop with me any longer! No extra bag that can weigh nearly as much as the portable computer, no more grimacing, no longer taking up all that extra room! What a marvel!
The never ending question of whether size is relevant is here now and my answer, when it comes to a miniature portable notebook computer is a reverberating, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter and so does weight. For me and my mobile computer smaller is by far and away better.
